Kalicharan Degree College, Lucknow is one of the esteemed institutions of learning and is situated on the bank of holy river Gomti in Chowk area of West-Lucknow. This institution is being run by Kalicharan Vidyalaya Endowment Trust, Lucknow which was constituted in 1912. Since beginning District Magistrate, Lucknow is ex-offcio President of this institution. Founder Manager of Kalicharan Vidyalaya Endowment Trust was Honorable Babu Ganga Prasad Verma. He was a renowned journalist, a social worker and also founder member of Indian National Congress in 1885.

The college was established by a prominent social worker Late Lala Kalicharan Mehrotra in 1913 as Kalicharan High school. In 1948 it developed into an Intermediate college which later became a Degree college in 1973 and grew into a Post Graduate College from session 2005-06. At the time of establishment of this institution Late Shri Ganga Prasad Verma helped immensely and it was due to his active support that the institution took its present shape.

A very prominent figure of Hindu Literature late Babu Shyam Sundar Das was the first Principal of Kalicharan High School. Later on due to efforts of famous educationist Late Shri Kali Das Kapoor it became an intermediate college which later on became a degree college due to sincere efforts of management of the college and other devoted educationists and social workers. This college is associated with University of Lucknow and is presently running courses in Arts and Commerce faculty. The courses available are B.A, B.Com, M.A. (Hindi & Sociology) and M.Com (Pure Commerce & Applied Economics).

Dr. P.N. Sharma was the founder manager of Kalicharan Degree College. Subsequently retired IAS Shri Gopal Das Mehrotra and then retired Principal Of Industrial College, Lucknow, Shri B.K. Bhalla became the manager of the college and both contributed a lot to the development and growth of the institution. Presently Er. V.K. Mishra is working efficiently as manager of this institution and the college is growing by leaps and bounds under his supervision. Main motive of the Institution is to develop students as healthy, educated, intelligent and responsible citizens of the country. Top priority is given to the character building of students so that they can contribute to nation building.
